Privacy Policy

AVB Language Group B.V. (AVB) is committed to the proper management of your data. We handle your personal data with care and adhere to the relevant legislation and regulations, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation.

In this Privacy Policy, we explain what personal data we process, for what purpose the processing takes place, how we safeguard the security of your personal data, and what your rights as data subject are.

What are personal data?

Personal data are the data that can be directly or indirectly traced back to you personally, for example, your name and address, phone number, email address, date of birth, and IP address.

Purpose of the processing of personal data

Your personal data will be used to provide you with good service during the interpreting order and for its administrative handling. We will only collect and process the personal data that are necessary to achieve the purpose of the processing. Your personal data are also kept for no longer than necessary.

The security of your personal data

We have taken various technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of your personal data.

Specific privacy requirements apply to our employees and freelancers. They are required to sign a confidentiality agreement before being hired or before the start of their contract. The security of your personal data is also ensured by our adherence to the need-to-know principle when performing a service and by the fact that access to your personal data is only granted to those persons who are actually processing your personal data.

Employees and freelancers are likewise required to report the loss of personal data as quickly as possible. As soon as such a loss is reported, a careful investigation will be conducted in accordance with our data breach protocol and we will take measures to minimise any consequences. If necessary, the loss of the personal data is reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and to the data subject(s).

In order to secure the digital processing of personal data as effectively as possible, our IT infrastructure is optimally secured and the anti-virus software is kept up to date.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can specify whether your name, email address, and site may be stored in a cookie. We do this for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter these details to leave a new comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

If you visit our login page, we store a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted as soon as you close your browser.

Once you log in, we will store some cookies related to your login information and screen display options. Login cookies are valid for two days and screen display options cookies are valid for one year. If you select ‘Remember me’, your login will be saved for two weeks. Login cookies are deleted as soon as you log out of your account.

An additional cookie is stored by your browser when you edit or publish a post. This cookie contains no personal data and only includes the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

Posts on this site may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, messages, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited this other site. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with this embedded content, including recording your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that site

Duration of personal data storage

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of that comment is saved forever. This way, we can automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of having to moderate them.

For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your personal data rights

You have the following rights, among others, under the GDPR:

• right to access to your personal data;
• right to erasure of your personal data;
• right to rectification;
• the right to data portability.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please send an email to avb@avb.nl. We will handle your requests within the statutory time limit and make use of the statutory options of honouring or denying your request(s). If we deny your request, we will, of course, provide our reasons for doing so.

Complaints

We make every effort to implement the Privacy Policy properly. However, if you find that this Privacy Policy is not adhered to in practice, or not adhered to adequately, you can submit a complaint to us via our Data Protection Officer (DPO): Mr Diégo Breet, who can be contacted via diego.breet@avb.nl. You can also contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority if you have a complaint about how data have been handled via www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
